Domino’s Pizza to unleash one-handed pizza on Tokyo

Domino’s Pizza is introducing an innovative new pizza exclusively at its Ariake Garden store in Tokyo’s Odaiba district.

Customers will soon be able to experience the “Melting Cheese ONE-HANDomino” a unique rectangular pizza designed for convenient, on-the-go enjoyment and eating with one hand.

Although they have recently announced plans to close over 170 stores, Dominos is still the leading pizza delivery chain in Japan and they continue to develop new products and toppings for customers.

The Melting Cheese ONE-HANDomino has been created to fill what Dominos believe is a gap in the market for portable, high-quality meals, particularly in urban environments where time and space are often limited.

The new pizza uses a specially developed dough, distinct from Domino’s standard “Hand Tossed” dough. The research and development process to create this new dough spanned over a year.

Most of the pizzas at Dominos Japan use the classic “Hand Tossed” dough

This new dough undergoes a process of in-store aging and fermentation, resulting in a remarkably fluffy texture.

A generous layer of mozzarella cheese and classic tomato sauce forms the base of the pizza, complemented by authentic American-style pepperoni, Italian sausage infused with a blend of herbs, and finished with crisp onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms.

Notably, the toppings and cheese extend to the very edges of the dough, eliminating the traditional pizza crust.

The Melting Cheese ONE-HANDomino is presented in a specially designed box which is supposed to allow for easy, one-handed consumption.

This innovative packaging makes it possible to enjoy the pizza in a variety of settings where traditional pizza consumption might be challenging.

Whether you’re waiting for an event at the nearby Tokyo Big Sight, relaxing in Ariake Garden Park, or simply seeking a quick and satisfying lunch at the office, the Melting Cheese ONE-HANDomino could be a convenient solution to your needs.

The pizza will be available from Tuesday, February 25th, 2025 and will cost 750 yen (approx. $5.02 USD/£3.97 GBP).

Customers can add a soft drink or shakes to make a combo meal with the new pizza

Customers can choose to add a drink to their order for the Melting Cheese ONE-HANDomino, with a pizza and drink combo costing 940 yen (approx. $6.29 USD/£4.98 GBP).

Alternatively, customers can order the pizza with a shake at a cost of 1,290 yen (approx. $8.64 USD/£6.83 GBP).

It’s unclear whether the new one-handed pizza will be rolled out to other Domino’s stores in the future, so for now you’ll need to take a trip to Odaiba to give it a try.
