“Big Mac Lantern” is the star of the show in McDonald’s Japan 2025 lucky bag
Fukubukuro, often referred to as lucky/happy bags, are a popular new years tradition in Japan that often offer great value to fans of specific brands/stores.
McDonald’s Japan have recently announced the contents of their 2025 lucky bag, which can only be obtained by entering a lottery for the chance to be able to purchase one.
For 2025, McDonald’s Japan have teamed up with BEAMS DESIGN to create a lineup of unique limited edition items that add a playful touch to McDonald’s iconic products and characters.
The main attraction in the 2025 McDonald’s Lucky Bag is the eye-catching “Big Mac Lantern”.
With it’s design based on the Big Mac®, the lantern is guaranteed to be a hit with fans of the Golden Arches:
The second item in the McDonald’s 2025 Fukubukuro is the “Potato Hand Catcher” – an ingenious item that allows you to eat your fries without getting your hands dirty.
One of three designs will be provided, based on the McDonald’s family characters Birdie, Hamburglar and Grimace:
A pixelated style cleaning cloth is also included, with one of three types included at random:
The final item in the 2025 McDonald’s Lucky Bag is a special pouch designed by BEAMS DESIGN, again selected from one of three types at random:
Priced at 3,480 yen (approx. $23.19 USD/£18.21 GBP), the 2025 McDonalds Fukubukuro would be great value if only the exclusive items were included, however there’s even more value to be had for those lucky enough to get their hands on one of the most sought after lucky bags released each year.
9 special coupons that add up to a value of 3,610 yen (approx $24.06 USD/£18.89 GBP) are included, which allow you to get items such as a Samurai Mac® Seared Soy Sauce Double Thick Beef, Teriyaki Mac Burger and even more for free!
In addition, one in every 10 lucky bags contains a specially designed “Golden Mac Card” worth 500 yen, which you can spend to ring in the new year.
If you plan on trying to get your hands on the 2025 McDonald’s Lucky Bag, you’ll need to be quick – lottery applications are open from the 2nd of December until 11:59 (JST) on the 10th of December 2024 via the McDonald’s Japan app.
Lucky winners will be notified on the 17th of December 2024 and will have until 1st January 2025 to complete their purchase. Entrants who do not complete their order within an allotted timeframe will have their entry released to another participant.
To increase your chances of winning, if you unsuccessfully applied for the 2024 McDonald’s Lucky Bag you’ll automatically be able to apply for two entries, provided you’re using the same account as last year.
A third and final entry can be obtained by placing an order through the McDonald’s Japan app during the application period and selecting “Pay by mobile order/モバイルオーダーでお支払い” when checking out.
With coupons included that exceed the total value of the bag, you’d be crazy not to try your luck to get your hands on the 2025 McDonald’s Lucky Bag!
