FINAL FANTASY XIV: Dawntrail – Patch 7.25 unleashes new content, rewards and quests

Square Enix has announced that new content, in the form of Patch 7.25, will soon arrive in Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail.
The new content will be implemented across all platforms – PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Windows, Mac and Steam – on Tuesday, May 27th, 2025.
This update, part of the ongoing Patch 7.2 “Seekers of Eternity” cycle, introduces a wealth of new content designed to challenge players, expand the game’s lore and offer fresh avenues for progression.

Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail is the latest expansion for Final Fantasy XIV, building upon the foundations of its highly successful predecessors, A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, Stormblood, Shadowbringers and Endwalker.
Known for its compelling story, robust class system, extensive crafting and gathering professions, and an active player community, FFXIV has become one of the most popular MMORPGs.

Dawntrail, launched in April 2025, introduced the new region of Tural, new jobs, an increased level cap, and continued the overarching story of the Warrior of Light.
Patch 7.25 will unlock several key features, including a new large-scale battle content area, a system for weapon enhancement, and two engaging new side questlines. Square Enix has also provided new screenshots showcasing these upcoming additions.
Let’s take a look at the new content that the patch will bring!
Crescent Isle: The Southern Expedition

Following in the footsteps of previous large-scale exploration zones like “The Forbidden Land, Eureka”, this marks the first installment of Dawntrail’s new large-group battle content series.

This content invites players to delve into the mysterious “Death Triangle”, a region where numerous ships have mysteriously vanished.
Teaming up with a veteran adventurer and an explorer named Ketenram, players will embark on a perilous voyage to uncover the island’s secrets.

A unique feature of Crescent Isle is the ability to utilize “support jobs”, displayed with nostalgic Final Fantasy V-style icons.
These support jobs offer a variety of special actions crucial for navigating the island’s challenges.

In Patch 7.25, a total of 12 support jobs will be available for players to learn and develop, adding a strategic layer to exploration and combat.

The island itself is rich with history, dotted with ruins from the Fifth Astral Era, some bearing architectural similarities to the Wanderer’s Palace on Bilbran Island.

Players will explore these new areas, confront newly revealed bosses, and even tackle dungeons that require forming parties, all while developing their unique support jobs.

There will also be new equipment obtainable as rewards from this content.

Weapon Enhancement: Phantom Weapon

Responding to player feedback that weapon enhancement in the Endwalker expansion felt “too easy”, a more challenging way to strengthen weapons will be introduced.
This system, which launches concurrently with Crescent Isle, calls upon players to assist a skilled craftsman on a perilous journey to forge powerful new “Phantom Weapons”.
Friendly Tribe Quest: Mamoolja

The second Friendly Tribe Quest in Dawntrail will further introduce players to the Mamool Ja.
These quests are particularly beneficial for gatherers, offering a new avenue for leveling up.

Set in the lush azure forest of Yak T’el, where traditional food sources are scarce, players will work alongside the Mamool Ja people to help them establish a thriving homeland they can be truly proud of.

The story picks up after the Mamool Ja succession ceremony, as they strive to build a new future.
New characters will also appear to aid adventurers, and screenshots hint at a potential Branchbearer mount.

Hildibrand Adventures

The ever-eccentric inspector, Hildibrand Manderville, returns with a new chapter in his ongoing saga.

This installment promises to delve deeper into the mysterious connection with a character who bears a striking resemblance to Hildibrand.
The quest begins in Solution Nine, where Nashu Mhakaracca is in pursuit of the missing detective.

Patch 7.25 is set to provide a substantial injection of content for Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, offering engaging new challenges, meaningful progression paths, and the continuation of beloved storylines.
