Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles Passes One Million Sales Mark
Square Enix announced on January 6, 2026, that total worldwide shipments and digital sales for “Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles” have surpassed the one million unit mark.
This significant sales milestone was achieved as of December 31, 2025, just over three months after the game’s launch on September 30, 2025.
The acclaimed tactical RPG made its modern debut across a wide array of platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam.
The success of the game, a remaster of the 1997 classic, was acknowledged by the development team.
Producer Kazutoyo Maehiro released a statement expressing gratitude for the positive reception and confirming plans for ongoing support.
“The entire development [team] is incredibly grateful to you all, and we are taking this positive reception as motivation to continue considering future updates to make the game even more enjoyable and accessible to an even wider audience.”
In celebration of the sales landmark, the digital version is currently on sale at a 20 percent discount, priced at $39.99 / €47.99 / £39.99 / ¥4,640 until January 8.
“The Ivalice Chronicles” features two complete versions of the game.
The enhanced version brings the story of Ramza Beoulve to life with fully voiced dialogue, improved graphics, a revamped user interface, and quality-of-life updates such as new difficulties, auto save, and battle speed adjustments.
These modernizations make the game more approachable for newcomers to the genre.
The classic version is also included and is a faithful recreation of the original 1997 release, incorporating the renowned “War of the Lions” translation.
The project was helmed by a team of returning legendary developers, including director Kazutoyo Maehiro, art director Hiroshi Minagawa, and Yasumi Matsuno, who served as the original script, scenario writer, and editor.
This commitment to the original vision extends to the strategic, turn-based combat system.
Players can engage in battles that utilize terrain and character placement, all while mastering a deep, customizable Job System featuring over 20 classes, such as black mage, dragoon, and geomancer, and over 300 character abilities.
The extensive voice cast includes Joe Pitts (Ramza), Gregg Lowe (Delita), Hannah Melbourn (Agrias), Timothy Watson (Cidolfus), Harry McEntire (Mustadio), and Ben Starr (Dycedarg).
The cast is rounded out by cameo appearances from Cody Christian (Cloud Strife from “Final Fantasy VII Remake” series) and Briana White (Aerith Gainsborough from “Final Fantasy VII Remake” series).
