FFVII’s Cloud and Sephiroth don railway uniforms as part of new Japanese railway campaign

Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central) has announced a major new collaboration with Square Enix’s acclaimed RPG, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade.
Set to begin in early 2026, this partnership is part of the “Oshi Tabi” campaign series, which promotes tourism via the Tokaido Shinkansen line connecting Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is the enhanced version of the 2020 retelling of the 1997 PlayStation classic.
It expands on the story of Cloud Strife, an ex-SOLDIER turned mercenary, and his conflict with the Shinra Electric Power Company and the legendary villain Sephiroth.

For this collaboration, the main cast—Cloud, Tifa Lockhart, Zack Fair, and Sephiroth, have been illustrated wearing official JR Central railway staff uniforms.

The campaign runs from January 15, 2026, to April 15, 2026, and features exclusive content designed to enhance the travel experience.
Passengers riding the Tokaido Shinkansen can listen to an original voice drama featuring Cloud and the others by accessing a special campaign site while on board.

Travelers who present a “Shinkansen Boarding Proof” (issued via the site) at Animate Nagoya will receive one of three random original acrylic keychains.

Nagoya serves as the central hub for this event.
A digital stamp rally will be held within the city; participants who visit three designated spots will earn a “Commemorative Postcard with Secret Voice.”

Exclusive merchandise featuring the new railway uniform artwork will be sold at Animate Nagoya and the Nagoya City Science Museum.

The product lineup includes:
- Mini Acrylic Stands: Collectible figures of the cast in uniform.
- Pass Cases: Practical travel accessories featuring character art.
- Travel Stickers: Decals designed for luggage customization.
This event marks another significant merchandise push for Square Enix this week.
It follows the recent announcements of the Kingdom Hearts II Formism Roxas Figure and the Dragon Quest Walk XL Slamichi Plush, offering fans multiple ways to celebrate their favorite RPGs in 2026.

Digital signage promoting the collaboration will also appear at Tokyo Station and Nagoya Station throughout the campaign period.
