Exclusive manga-colored Super Saiyan Goku S.H.Figuarts revealed by Bandai Spirits
Bandai Spirits has announced an exclusive advance sale of a new action figure at the upcoming “Dragon Ball Genki Dama Matsuri” event in Japan.
The new “S.H.Figuarts Super Saiyan Son Goku -Legendary Super Saiyan- -Genki Dama Matsuri Edition-” will join Bandai Spirits’ flagship series of high-quality action figures.
The brand is renowned for condensing expert modeling, movement, and coloring techniques into a palm-sized format, prioritizing both realistic character representation and the high articulation necessary to recreate dynamic scenes.
This special edition features a unique color scheme designed to replicate the appearance of the color pages from the original Weekly Shonen Jump magazine and the Kanzenban (Complete Edition) manga releases.
This distinct coloring captures the intensity of the battle against Frieza.
To further enhance the manga aesthetic, the figure includes two newly sculpted head parts and two new face parts based directly on specific panels from the original comic.
The figure comes packed with accessories to recreate one of the most famous scenes in anime history.
It includes a PET sheet featuring the text bubble for the iconic line, “Are you talking about Krillin!!!!!” (Kuririn no koto ka!!!!!).
The set also features a dedicated pedestal printed with the 40th-anniversary logo in a color matching the figure. Other accessories include four pairs of interchangeable hands and three interchangeable facial expressions.
The “Dragon Ball Genki Dama Matsuri” itself is a large-scale fan event billed as the climax of the franchise’s 40th-anniversary celebrations.
Scheduled to be held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba on Sunday, January 25, 2026, admission is free but limited to a “complete invitation-only” system via a pre-registration lottery.
The event promises major reveals, with the main stage hosting the “New Developments Super Announcement! Genkida Stage Parts 1 & 2.”
These presentations will feature legendary voice actress Masako Nozawa (voice of Son Goku) and Dragon Ball DAIMA executive producer Akio Iyoku, who are expected to announce the future plans for the franchise.
Additionally, a special live stage will feature a performance by Hironobu Kageyama, the singer behind iconic themes like “CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA.”
In a significant development for gamers, the event will feature a demo area for Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO running on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Visitors will be able to use the Joy-Con 2’s motion controls to perform attacks like the “Kamehameha.”
Other titles such as Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle, Dragon Ball Legends, Dragon Ball: Gekishin Squadra, and Dragon Ball Super Divers will also have booths.
This exclusive figure release complements the rapidly expanding Dragon Ball 40th anniversary merch lineup.
Pre-orders recently opened for the “S.H.Figuarts Super Saiyan God Son Goku -God Aura-” and “S.H.Figuarts Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Son Goku -Blue Power Transcending Limits-,” offering fans a wide range of Goku’s forms to collect.
The “S.H.Figuarts Super Saiyan Son Goku -Legendary Super Saiyan- -Genki Dama Matsuri Edition-” will be available for advance sale at the event venue.
The figure is priced at 8,800 yen (approx. $58.00 USD / £46.00 GBP).
