Exclusive Clear Color Sazabi Gunpla Kit Announced by Bandai Hobby

Bandai Hobby has revealed the first release details for a brand new model kit based on the acclaimed anime film “Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack”.

The “RG 1/144 MSN-04FF Sazabi [Clear Color]” recreates one of the movie’s most iconic mobile suits in a new clear color format.

Directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino, the classic 1988 film  “Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack” serves as the epic culmination of the original Gundam saga.

The story focuses on the final, dramatic rivalry between ace pilots Amuro Ray and Char Aznable.

As the leader of the Neo Zeon forces, Char launches a desperate rebellion against the Earth Federation, leading to an unforgettable cosmic clash.

He pilots the massive red Sazabi, a powerful mobile suit specifically designed to maximize his formidable Newtype abilities on the battlefield.

The “FF” variation of this suit features the devastating Double Horn Funnels, a weapon system originally designed for the spectacular life-sized statue attraction located in Fukuoka, Japan.

This newly revealed release is a “clear color” variant of the highly sought-after standard “RG 1/144 MSN-04FF Sazabi”.

The Real Grade line is renowned among builders for shrinking the incredibly complex internal mechanics of larger Master Grade kits down to a compact 1/144 scale.

The new kit’s exterior armor pieces have been carefully molded in a deep, translucent red plastic.

This unique finish allows builders to easily view the intricate mechanical details and inner frame of the mobile suit even after it is fully assembled.

To provide a striking contrast, the joint parts and abdominal sections utilize a premium metallic molding color.

The kit comes packed with several accessories, including dedicated saber effect parts for the massive Double Horn Funnels.

It also includes bonus saber effect parts designed to be used with the Long Range Fin Funnel of the separately sold RG 1/144 RX-93ff nu Gundam.

An Action Base 5 display stand is provided in the box to safely pose the model and recreate dynamic mid-air combat scenes.

The RG 1/144 MSN-04FF Sazabi [Clear Color] is priced at 8,910 yen (approx. $57 USD / £45 GBP).

Advance sales are scheduled to begin at the GUNDAM SIDE-F facility on Saturday, May 2, 2026.

A further wider release is expected, but will be announced at a later date.
