Evangelion is looking back to the year it all began with a new collection of vintage-style T-shirts designed to feel like merchandise that could have been released alongside the original anime in 1995.

The five-piece 2026 A/W 1st Drop from EVANGELION:95 draws from carefully selected moments across Neon Genesis Evangelion and its original theatrical releases, including Shinji and Asuka’s synchronized battle, the awakening of Unit-01, and artwork connected to one of the franchise’s best-known songs.

Neon Genesis Evangelion first aired in Japan in October 1995 and followed teenager Shinji Ikari after he was recruited by NERV to pilot the biomechanical Evangelion Unit-01 against mysterious enemies known as Angels, developing into one of the most influential anime series of its era.

EVANGELION:95 approaches the franchise from a fashion perspective rooted specifically in that original period, with this latest collection imagining the type of graphic T-shirts that could have existed while the anime was still airing.

The shirts use heavyweight cotton fabric with deliberately faded coloring and an aged finish, creating the appearance of clothing that has survived decades of wear rather than newly produced anime merchandise.

The EVA0097 T-Shirt, priced at ¥24,200 (approx. $155 USD / £115 GBP), uses a scene of the awakened Unit-01 during Third Impact from The End of Evangelion, combining the image with “AWAKENING” lettering on the front and an original anti-A.T. Field-inspired graphic across the back.

The EVA0099 T-Shirt, priced at ¥26,400 (approx. $169 USD / £125 GBP), also reaches into The End of Evangelion and centers its artwork around the unsettling Mass Production Evangelions that play a major role during the movie’s final events.

Two designs revisit Episode 9 of the original television series, “Both of You, Dance Like You Want to Win!”, and its memorable battle in which Shinji and Asuka must perfectly synchronize Unit-01 and Unit-02 to defeat the Angel Israfel.

The EVA0100 T-Shirt, priced at ¥24,200 (approx. $155 USD / £115 GBP), places Israfel on the front and Unit-01 alongside Unit-02 on the back at matching positions, while the sleeve carries the remaining battle time of “22:10” alongside EVANGELION:95’s “95” branding.

The EVA0101 T-Shirt, priced at ¥26,400 (approx. $169 USD / £125 GBP), reverses that arrangement by bringing Unit-01 and Unit-02 to the front and positioning Israfel lower on the back as the two Evangelions close in for their finishing attack, with “07:00” appearing on the sleeve.

Completing the drop is the EVA0103 T-Shirt, priced at ¥26,400 (approx. $169 USD / £125 GBP), which revives the artwork from Yoko Takahashi’s 1997 “Tamashii no Refrain” CD single, the theme song associated with Evangelion: Death and Rebirth.

The original CD jacket artwork has been converted into high-resolution data for the main graphic, while the back takes inspiration from the theatrical poster for Death and Rebirth and the right sleeve incorporates Yoko Takahashi’s logo alongside the EVANGELION:95 emblem.
