Evangelion and FILA release new sneaker collab for the anime's 30th anniversary

Evangelion and FILA will team up for the fourth time to release a new range of ‘RADIO EVA’ sneakers to commemorate the anime’s 30th anniversary.

Neon Genesis Evangelion, originally aired in 1995, is a groundbreaking anime series that has left a significant cultural impact with its complex narrative, psychological depth, and iconic mecha designs.

FILA, an Italian sportswear brand established in 1911, expanded into sports apparel in the 1970s and gained global recognition by supporting prominent athletes across tennis, NBA, and F1 racing.

This fourth wave of FILA collaboration sneakers, based on new character illustrations by animator Naoyuki Asano, will combine FILA’s athletic footwear with the anime’s aesthetic.

The latest collaboration features the FILA “VENOM” model, a running shoe first introduced in 1994, which drew inspiration from the fangs of venomous snakes.

This sneaker is characterized by its sharp, overlapping upper design and heel-area plastic logo, all indicative of 90s footwear trends.

RADIO EVA has infused the Evangelion universe into this classic design, with this particular series spotlighting the Evangelion units themselves, offering three distinct models:

EVA-01 (Black/Purple/Blue)

EVA-02 (White/Black/Red)

This pair of sneakers is based on footwear seen in the collab illustration featuring Asuka:

EVA-00 (White/Yellow/Gardenia)

This pair of sneakers is based on the footwear worn by Rei Ayanami in the collab illustrations:

As an added bonus, each pair of these collaboration sneakers comes with a special novelty item: a dog tag engraved with the Evangelion 30th-anniversary emblem.

This weighty dog tag can be worn attached to the sneakers, used as a keychain, or incorporated into other accessories, making it a unique collectible.

The shoes are available in sizes ranging from 23 cm to 29 cm, and are priced at ¥19,800 (tax included).

A special novelty (postcard) will be included with orders placed via the RADIO EVA Online store, RADIO EVA STORE Shibuya Store, EVANGELION STORE ONLINE and EVANGELION STORE TOKYO-01 Ikebukuro Store.
