Duolingo is opening its own convenience store in Japan

Duolingo has announced it will open its first-ever temporary pop-up store in Japan, located in the heart of Shibuya, Tokyo.
The store is titled “DUOMART” and is designed around the concept of a Japanese convenience store (konbini).
Duolingo chose this theme to draw a parallel between the “24-hour, 365-day” nature of convenience stores and its own “learn anytime, anywhere” app experience.

The project aims to encourage users to keep their learning streaks alive during the busy end-of-year holiday season, a time when app activity typically drops.
Fans can expect to see merchandise and photo spots featuring the famous green owl mascot, Duo, alongside other popular characters like Lily and Oscar.

While the full lineup of goods will be revealed in early December, the store promises items that “gently snuggle up to daily life.”
The exact location of the store is currently a mystery.
From December 1 to December 4, hints regarding the location will appear on telephone pole advertisements throughout Shibuya, with the official venue announcement scheduled for December 5.
“DUOMART” is scheduled to be open from Thursday, December 18, 2025, until Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
The store hours will be from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily.
