Dorohedoro’s second season finally gets a release date after fans forced to wait 6-years for a sequel

The second season of the popular and critically acclaimed anime series, Dorohedoro, has been officially announced, with a release window of Spring 2026.
The new season is scheduled to have a near-simultaneous, worldwide streaming release.

The first season of the anime, which was produced by the acclaimed studio MAPPA, aired in 2020 and was a huge hit with fans, who have been eagerly awaiting a continuation of the story for the past six years.
The second season was first teased in January 2025 with an expected release date later in the year, but this new announcement has pushed the release date into next year.

Dorohedoro is based on the manga by Q Hayashida, which ran from 2000 to 2018.
The story is set in a grim, urban world and follows the amnesiac, lizard-headed protagonist Caiman and his companion Nikaido as they search for the sorcerer who cursed him.

To accompany the announcement, a new key visual has been released, which was newly drawn by the series’s character designer, Tomohiro Kishi.
The new artwork is a perfect encapsulation of the series’s signature “chaotic” worldview.

It features a shockingly detailed, anatomical cross-section of the protagonist Caiman, while also maintaining a pop-art and almost lighthearted atmosphere with the inclusion of the sorcerers’ masks hanging on meat hooks.
The main creative staff from the first season will be returning for this new production.

The animation will once again be handled by MAPPA, with Yuichiro Hayashi returning as the director and Tomohiro Kishi reprising his role as the character designer.
This new season promises to continue the unique blend of shocking, stylish, and comical elements that made the first season a cult classic.
