Detailed new NieR:Automata hair accessories are based on 2B and 9S
Japanese fashion brand MAYLA has announced a new collaboration with the popular anime series, NieR:Automata Ver1.1a.
The new product line is a collection of “Iconic Hair Objets,” which are a pair of elegant hair accessories themed around the two main characters of the series, 2B and 9S.
The items are a unique, two-part design, which combines a “majeste” (a decorative hair stick cover) with a “kanzashi” (a traditional-style hairpin).
Each of the two different models is packed with a variety of subtle and symbolic details that are references to the characters and their story.
The full lineup is as follows:
- 2B Model
The majeste for this model is designed to look like a “Lunar Tear,” the iconic flower from the game.
It features a blue glass stone to represent her clear eyes and a red rhinestone to symbolize the “contamination” from the story.
The back is engraved with her famous line, “The honor was mine.”
- 9S Model
The majeste for this model is based on his signature choker.
It also uses blue and red stones to represent his eyes before and after contamination.
The back is engraved with his poignant line, “2B… it was an honor to fight with you. Truly.”
Both of the models also incorporate a “Black Box” motif into their design and the kanzashi pins that accompany the majeste are also themed.
The 2B model comes with a pin that is designed to look like her signature weapon, the “Virtuous Contract,” while the 9S model’s pin is based on his “Cruel Oath.”
Each one comes in a stylish presentation box featuring artwork of 2B and 9S.
The hair accessories can be worn either together or separately and each set of NieR Automata-themed “Iconic Hair Objet – Majeste + Kanzashi” are priced at ¥13,750 (approx. $93 USD/£69 GBP).
Pre-orders for the new, made-to-order collection are scheduled to begin on the official MAYLA website on Friday, the 17th of October, at 5:00 PM Japan Standard Time.
