Crunchyroll Announces Official Store Will Become Subscriber-Exclusive This August

Crunchyroll has announced a significant change to its online store, confirming that shopping access will soon be limited to subscribers on its Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan membership tiers.

Crunchyroll is one of the world’s largest anime streaming platforms, offering thousands of anime episodes and movies alongside manga, games and a dedicated online store that sells figures, Blu-rays, apparel, books, accessories and other anime and gaming merchandise.

The change will take effect sometime during August 2026, after which customers without an eligible subscription will no longer be able to make new purchases through the storefront.

The online store currently serves as the successor to Right Stuf following Sony Group Corporation’s acquisition of the long-running retailer in 2022.

After the acquisition, Right Stuf’s inventory and operations were gradually integrated into Crunchyroll’s existing online platform, creating the storefront that fans use today.

Customers with existing orders will not be affected by the upcoming changes, with Crunchyroll confirming that all current orders will continue to be processed and shipped as originally scheduled, even if the products are released after the membership restriction comes into effect.

Anyone wishing to cancel an unshipped order will still be able to contact Crunchyroll Support through the company’s Help Center.

Users will also continue to have access to their account information and complete order history after the transition.

Crunchyroll confirmed that gift cards will continue to be supported until August 14, 2026, after which customers with any remaining balance or related questions will need to contact customer support directly.

Support services will remain available for existing orders, including address changes, delivery issues, and other order-related assistance.

The company also announced that, beginning July 13, 2026, at 11:59 PM PT, selected purchases will become final sale and will no longer qualify for refunds or returns unless the product arrives damaged or defective.

Ahead of the upcoming changes, Crunchyroll has launched a Summer Sale offering discounts of up to 50% across a selection of merchandise beginning July 14, 2026.

Crunchyroll’s Mega Fan membership is currently priced at $13.99 per month, while the Ultimate Fan tier costs $17.99 per month following the subscription price increase introduced earlier this year.

Crunchyroll has not yet announced the exact date in August when the store will officially become exclusive to Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan subscribers, but says further details will be shared closer to the transition and the full statement can be read on their website.
