Crocs x ONE PIECE “Gear 5 Luffy” collab footwear announced
Crocs has announced a three-way collaboration with the popular TV anime series One Piece and sneaker retailer atmos.
This special collab, inspired by Monkey D. Luffy’s “Gear 5” transformation, is set to launch this June, with demand expected to be so high that a lottery system will be used to determine who will have a chance to own them.
One Piece, created by Eiichiro Oda, is a globally recognized manga and anime phenomenon, spanning decades with its epic adventures of pirates, intricate world-building, and themes of freedom and friendship.
Luffy’s Gear 5 transformation, a significant development in the series, symbolizes ultimate freedom and joy, and is often accompanied by a “drums of liberation” sound effect.
This collaboration aims to infuse that spirit into footwear, with the core concept behind the team up stated as being “The drums of liberation resound at your feet.”
The unique footwear features a bold design that embodies the freedom, laughter, and “liberation” associated with Luffy’s Gear 5 form.
The design also draws inspiration from Luffy’s rubber-like elasticity and his joyful, strong demeanor even during intense battles.
The “Classic Clog” model from Crocs serves as the base for this special edition, as the designers believe that this silhouette, combined with Jibbitz™ charms, is ideal for replicating key elements of Gear 5, such as the clouds that envelop Luffy’s body and the exaggerated “eyes popping out” expression.
The color scheme also incorporates the purple elements of the Gear 5 transformation, with the inner and outer soles incorporating the same shade as the sash worn by Gear 5 Luffy.
The aim is to create an energetic and distinct pair of shoes that evokes the “drums of liberation” with every step.
Each pair comes in special packaging featuring Gear 5 Luffy’s artwork, adding to its appeal as a collector’s item for fans.
This footwear is intended as a playful choice for various summer activities like beach trips, festivals, or simply for everyday casual wear, allowing fans to show off their love for ONE PIECE whilst maintaining comfort with their footwear choice.
The collaborative “ONE PIECE x Atmos x Crocs Gear Five Classic Rubber Outsole Clog” will officially go on sale on Saturday, June 21st, 2025, priced at 13,200 yen (approx. $91.24 USD/£68.36 GBP).
