Classic PlayStation game cases become mini charms in new BANDAI Gashapon collection

Bandai is releasing a new line of capsule toys that lovingly recreates the game packages of classic titles from the original PlayStation and the PlayStation 2.
The “Game Package Miniature Charm: Sony Interactive Entertainment Edition,” will be released as part of Bandai’s Gashapon brand.

Gashapon are a well-known part of hobby culture in Japan, where collectible toys are dispensed in plastic capsules from vending machines.
In recent years, Bandai has expanded the Gashapon brand outside of Japan, with many countries now seeing capsule toy vending machines appear in local hobby goods stores.
Earlier this year, Bandai released a set of Gashapon toys shaped like PlayStation controllers from each generation of PlayStation console.

This new collection offers fans a nostalgic trip back to the early days of the PlayStation brand.
Each charm is a detailed, miniature replica of a game case, which can be opened and closed.

Inside, the charms feature a tiny, removable game disc and a detailed interior that recreates the look of the original packaging, including the slots for a memory card and an instruction manual.
The lineup features a total of nine different classic titles, with one being a secret or “chase” item.
The eight standard charms in the collection are:
From the PlayStation:
- Everybody’s Golf

- Ape Escape

- Doko Demo Issyo

- XI (Devil Dice)

From the PlayStation 2:
- Everybody’s Golf 3

- Ape Escape 2

- Toro on Holiday (Toro to Kyuujitsu)

- ICO

The ninth, secret charm is described only as a “legendary title.”
The new “Game Package Miniature Charm: Sony Interactive Entertainment Edition” Gashapon series is priced at ¥300 per attempt and is scheduled to appear in stores across Japan during the fourth week of August 2025.
