Bandai Reveals 2 New Gundam Base Exclusive Gunpla Kits Ahead of August Release

Bandai has unveiled two new limited-edition Gunpla releases heading to Gundam Base later this month, giving fans a first look at a new clear-color take on the Freedom Gundam and a distinctly Japanese reinterpretation of the ν Gundam.

The two kits take very different approaches, with one recreating the life-size Freedom Gundam statue in Shanghai while the other refreshes an existing ENTRY GRADE release with a new ukiyo-e-inspired presentation.

The Freedom Gundam comes from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, the 2002 anime that introduced Kira Yamato and helped establish the Cosmic Era as one of Gundam’s most successful alternate timelines.

Its new RG release is based specifically on the ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam Ver.GCP, the version created around the life-size statue installed in Shanghai, and transforms the design with clear-color armor while retaining the detailed panel lines and color separation associated with the Real Grade format.

Additional landing gear and open hand parts allow the model to reproduce the pose used by the Shanghai statue, while realistic decals recreate markings and metallic details across the mobile suit.

The kit also includes the Freedom Gundam’s beam rifle, beam sabers and shield, giving builders its familiar weapon loadout alongside the more unusual transparent finish.

The RG 1/144 Gundam Base Limited ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam Ver.GCP [Clear Color] will be priced at ¥4,400 (approx. $28 USD / £21 GBP).

The second release turns to the RX-93 ν Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack, the 1988 theatrical finale to the long-running rivalry between Amuro Ray and Char Aznable.

ENTRY GRADE 1/144 ν Gundam [Ukiyo-e Package Ver.], priced at ¥1,760 (approx. $11 USD / £8 GBP), keeps the accessible snap-build construction of the standard kit but introduces an all-new ukiyo-e package design and traditional Japanese-pattern stickers.

Its touch-gate runners allow the parts to be removed without nippers, while the completed model retains extensive articulation and can also use weapons from the separately sold HGUC 1/144 RX-93 ν Gundam.

Both kits will be sold at Gundam Base locations in Japan, and the clear-color Freedom Gundam is scheduled to launch on August 22, 2026, followed by the event-limited ukiyo-e ν Gundam on August 29, 2026.

Bandai has yet to confirm a wider international release for the two new exclusive kits, though they may appear through Premium Bandai US some time after their initial Japanese debut.
