Asuka and Rei Star in Evangelion’s New High-End Gaming Keyboard Collab Collection from MelGeek
MelGeek has opened pre-orders for a new officially licensed Evangelion collaboration, introducing two limited-edition Centauri gaming keyboards inspired by Asuka Langley Shikinami and Rei Ayanami.
The release forms part of Evangelion’s 30th anniversary celebrations and follows MelGeek’s earlier Unit-01-themed MADE68 Ultra+ keyboard, this time shifting the focus to Asuka’s EVA-02 and Rei’s EVA-00.
Neon Genesis Evangelion first aired in 1995 and follows teenage pilots recruited to control giant Evangelion units against mysterious beings known as Angels, with Asuka and Rei becoming two of the franchise’s most recognizable characters.
Rather than applying alternate colors to the same product, MelGeek has matched each pilot with a different Centauri layout that reflects their personality and offers a noticeably different experience for gaming and everyday use.
The Centauri60 Asuka Edition uses a compact 66-key layout that leaves more space for mouse movement, pairing its red, black and warning-inspired EVA-02 styling with transparent keycaps, a rose gold control knob and an aluminum alloy body.
Its smaller footprint is aimed particularly at competitive and FPS setups, while the physical knob and action key can be configured for volume, media controls, lighting, macros and other functions through MelGeek’s HIVE software.
The Centauri80 Rei Edition expands the layout to 83 keys with a complete function row and dedicated arrow keys, surrounding them with pale blue-gray, white, silver and translucent details inspired by Rei and EVA-00.
Rei’s version also includes a 1.78-inch OLED touchscreen that can display system information and personalized JPG, PNG or GIF wallpapers, with her portrait preloaded when the keyboard arrives.
Additional details include an N2 missile-inspired graphic, a laser-etched EVA-00 insignia, a Rei identity plate and the words “You Won’t Die, I Will Protect You” engraved beneath the aluminum chassis.
Both keyboards use Flip King magnetic white switches and share Hall Effect features including adjustable actuation, Rapid Trigger, Snap Tap, 8,000Hz USB polling and a listed latency of 0.125 milliseconds.
The magnetic switches allow the actuation point to be adjusted between 0.1 mm and 3.3 mm, while Rapid Trigger can be tuned as low as 0.01 mm for quicker repeated inputs and directional changes.
Both models are wired-only keyboards and use aluminum cases, transparent PC keycaps, gasket-mounted construction, internal Poron dampening and independently customizable south-facing RGB lighting.
Each package includes the collaboration keyboard, an exclusive presentation box, a themed envelope, a USB cable, a switch puller, seven interchangeable keycaps and a protective Nano-Tech keyboard case.
The Centauri60 Asuka Edition, priced at $359, is available to pre-order directly through the MelGeek online store, while an initial bundle pairing the keyboard with a matching mouse pad is priced at $389.
It is also available as a keyboard and mouse bundle, which is priced at $489.
A final bundle is available, which includes the Centauri60 Asuka Edition and the matching Horus mouse and mouse pad, priced at $537.
The Centauri80 Rei Edition, priced at $459, is also available through the MelGeek online store, with its matching keyboard and mouse pad bundle priced at $489.
A second bundle is available, pairing the Rei-themed keyboard with a Horus mouse, which is priced at $598.
Fans looking for the ultimate Centauri80 Rei Edition bundle can also pick up the keyboard with both the matching mouse and mouse pad, with this bundle priced at $637.
The launch bundles are being offered as a limited two-week pre-sale promotion, while the individually serialized Rei Edition is part of a limited production run with no restock currently planned.
Pre-orders opened on August 1, 2026, with shipping scheduled to begin after August 15 and orders being fulfilled in the order they were received.
