Prepare for trouble with new Team Rocket coffee

Japan’s BOSS Coffee will be releasing a wave of limited edition can designs inspired by the Pokémon TCG and Team Rocket.

This follows an earlier collaboration that saw Pokémon TCG cards feature on normal cans of BOSS coffee, as well as the release of a new time limited “BOSS ex Evolution Lightly Sweet” coffee.

The new “BOSS ex Evolution Lightly Sweet” coffee is characterized by a strong bitterness combined with a pleasant sharpness.

To celebrate the upcoming “Glory of Team Rocket” expansion, the cans for this specific drink are being revamped.

Each can of coffee will feature one of three distinct card designs from the “Glory of Team Rocket” expansion set of the “Pokémon Trading Card Game Scarlet & Violet” series, which is scheduled for release in Japan on April 18th 2025.

The “Glory of Team Rocket” cards will be included in the English and International versions of the Pokémon TCG, alongside cards from the “Hot Wind Arena” expansion, as part of the “Destined Rivals” expansion due to be released on May 30th.

BOSS will also introduce a special bundled product, the “Just Break Craft Boss Café 2-Pack”, from May 20th. This will include a newly illustrated Pokémon card as a promotional item.

“Just Break Craft Boss Café” is a concentrated coffee designed for easy preparation of latte or black coffee by mixing it with milk or water, emulating the taste and quality of beverages typically found in coffee shops.

The “Just Break Craft BOSS Café 2-Pack” will be offered in two variations: sugar-free and lightly sweetened.

Both versions of the two-pack will be released on Tuesday, May 20th and will include a specially commissioned Pokémon card featuring “Sakaki of Team Rocket”, created specifically for the “BOSS” x “Pokémon Card Game” collaboration.

The “Just Break Craft Boss Cafe 2-Pack” will be available in limited quantities, and sales will conclude once they are sold out.

BOSS will also be hosting an online promotional campaign where participants have the opportunity to win a “Sakaki’s Boss Jump,” a black jacket inspired by the iconic attire of Sakaki (Giovanni in English), the leader of Team Rocket in the Pokémon franchise.

Five lucky winners will receive one of these jackets

The jacket will feature a special design incorporating the BOSS coffee brand logo on the back, uniquely stylized with an image of Sakaki/Giovanni.

The campaign will be running between April 21st to May 9th and will see 5 winners receive a jacket.

To participate, individuals are required to follow the official BOSS Coffee “Craft Boss” account on X (@_craftboss) and repost a designated campaign-related post during the application period.

“BOSS ex Evolution Lightly Sweet” will be launched in partnership with the “Pokémon Trading Card Game” on Tuesday, May 6th.
