Hatsune Miku x McDonald’s Japan collaboration coming for Miku Day 2025

McDonald’s Japan have revealed the first stages of an upcoming collaboration with Hatsune Miku.

Hatsune Miku has already featured in a number of other collaborations in 2025, with a new range of themed throat lozenges having been announced earlier this month.

The 9th of March is known as “Miku Day” in Japan and to celebrate the occasion, Hatsune Miku will be teaming up with McDonald’s.

The first part of the collaboration has seen Miku help promote McDonald’s Japan’s popular “Shaka Shaka Potato”, also known by western audiences as “McShaker fries”.

Having first teased a collaboration with a post showing a silhouette on the 19th of February, several other posts have since confirmed that Hatsune Miku will indeed be making an appearance at McDonald’s Japan this March:

“This year’s Shaka Shaka Potato ® will feature this person!”

Though the silhouette was certainly an easy one to work out, McDonald’s Japan confirmed Miku was indeed the star of the upcoming collaboration, which as stated by their reveal, will not be green onion flavored:
