Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball vehicles to be released as Tomica models

In a highly anticipated collaboration, Tomica and Dragon Ball will team up to release a new range of miniatures based on iconic vehicles from Akira Toriyama’s seminal work.

The first products resulting from the new partnership will be made available for purchase starting in May 2025.

The “Dragon Ball x Tomica” collaboration will see the production of vehicles that were originally designed and depicted by Akira Toriyama within the “Dragon Ball” manga.

“Dragon Ball” began its serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1984. Created by Akira Toriyama, the manga follows the adventures of Son Goku, a boy with superhuman strength, as he journeys to collect the seven wish-granting Dragon Balls.

Along his path, he befriends numerous allies and faces formidable foes. The series, known for its dynamic action sequences and memorable characters, has had an immense impact on global pop culture.

Tomica, a brand of miniature diecast model vehicles, is produced by Takara Tomy.

The company started in 1970 in Japan, and has since produced a wide range of miniature cars, trucks, buses, and construction vehicles. They are known for their high quality, and attention to detail.

Goku’s “Flying Nimbus” will be one of the two products released in the first wave

The initial release in this collaborative series will feature the “Kintoun,” also known as the “Flying Nimbus,” which Goku received from Master Roshi, and the “Bike” that Bulma retrieves from Hoipoi Capsule No. 9.

Bulma’s iconic bike will be the second vehicle in the first wave

Looking ahead, there are plans to release a range of additional vehicles, including Frieza’s pod, the Red Ribbon Army’s small fighter jet, Ox-King’s car, Master Roshi’s station wagon, and more.

The next miniature vehicles to be released as part of the collaboration have been teased by Tomica

Each of the two vehicles released in the first wave of the Tomica x Dragon Ball collaboration will be priced at 1,320 yen (approx. $8.91 USD/£6.88 GBP) and will be available from a wide selection of character goods retailers.
