Ado Reveals Her Past and Rise to Stardom in New Autobiography

KADOKAWA has announced the upcoming publication of an official autobiographical novel chronicling the life of the chart-topping singer Ado.
Scheduled for release this February, “Vivarium: Ado and Me” offers an unprecedented look into the private struggles and meteoric rise of the 23-year-old artist who became a social phenomenon with her major debut “Usseewa.”

The novel is written by Narumi Komatsu, a renowned non-fiction author best known for her best-selling biographical works on Ayumi Hamasaki (M: Ai Subeki Hito ga Ite) and the vocal group GReeeeN.
Komatsu spent three years interviewing Ado to construct the biography, which offers fans the most in-depth glimpse into her life to date.

It covers Ado’s early years, including her experiences with stopping going to school and her retreat into the digital world, where she found solace in “Utaite” culture, a Japanese internet subculture where vocalists cover songs on platforms like Nico Nico Douga.

It details her initial recordings inside her home closet, her fateful meeting with Cloud Nine CEO Takuya Chigira, and her transformation into a global superstar who recently completed a massive 33-city world tour in 2025.
The title Vivarium refers to a small, enclosed environment for keeping living things, serving as a metaphor for the closet where Ado honed her craft in isolation before stepping onto the world stage.

To coincide with the book’s release, Ado will release a new digital single, also titled “Vivarium,” on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
This track features lyrics and composition by Ado herself, serving as a musical companion to the written memoir.

“Vivarium: Ado and Me” is priced at 1,870 yen (approx. $13.00 USD / £10.00 GBP) and will be available in bookstores across Japan starting Thursday, February 26, 2026.
