A new Magic Knight Rayearth anime is coming in 2026, 30 years after the original

A new anime adaptation of the classic CLAMP manga Magic Knight Rayearth is officially in production.
This new adaptation was first announced in 2024, thirty years after the original 1994 anime’s debut.

This latest announcement confirmed the new anime will debut in 2026 and also revealed that the series will air on the TV Asahi Network in Japan.
Magic Knight Rayearth is one of the most famous and beloved works from the legendary creative group CLAMP.

The story follows three middle school girls: Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki, and Fuu Hououji, who are suddenly and mysteriously summoned from the Tokyo Tower to the magical, otherworld of “Cephiro.”

There, they are tasked by Princess Emeraude with becoming the legendary Magic Knights to save the captive princess and her world.
To accompany the new announcement, a new teaser visual has been released.

The artwork depicts the three protagonists, Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu, at the Tokyo Tower, the location where their fate-changing story is set to begin.

An official website has also been launched for the new project, which will be updated regularly in the run up to the series’ release.
The new Magic Knight Rayearth TV anime is scheduled to premiere in 2026, with more details such as the voice cast and the specific release window to be confirmed in the coming months.
