A massive SPY x FAMILY takeover event is coming to Tokyo’s Shibuya district
A massive, “city-jack” or “takeover” event has been announced for the popular anime series SPY x FAMILY, which will see a variety of pop-ups and special decorations appear across the Shibuya district of Tokyo.
The campaign is being held to celebrate two major upcoming broadcasts: the premiere of the third season of the TV anime, and the first-ever, terrestrial television broadcast of the theatrical film, SPY x FAMILY CODE: White.
A key highlight of the event will be a real-life recreation of the “Franky’s Tobacco Shop” from the series, which will appear as a limited-time pop-up.
A free, original tabloid newspaper, designed to look like the in-series “DAILY OST,” will be distributed at this location and at several other spots around Shibuya.
The eight-page newspaper will feature cast comments, information on the new theme songs, a new illustration of Anya, and a special AR feature.
The “Shibu-Hako Vision” advertising space, located on the platform of the Ginza Line’s Shibuya Station, will also be taken over with a SPY x FAMILY theme, with special decorations and an exclusive video of Anya promoting the new season.
In addition to these, a new, “Monochrome” themed pop-up shop will also be held.
This shop will sell a wide range of exclusive merchandise, including acrylic stands and a “Life 4-Cut” photo booth where fans can take pictures with the Forger family. Customers who spend over ¥3,300 will receive a free, exclusive shopper bag.
The pop-up shop is a touring event and the full schedule for the various events is as follows:
- “Franky’s Tobacco Shop” pop-up: October 1st – 5th.
- Shibuya Loft pop-up shop: October 3rd – 20th.
- Umeda Loft pop-up shop: October 25th – November 9th.
- Yokohama Loft pop-up shop: November 14th – December 2nd.
- Tenjin Loft pop-up shop: December 9th – 25th.
The third season of the SPY x FAMILY anime is scheduled to premiere on Saturday, the 4th of October.
The first-ever TV broadcast of SPY x FAMILY CODE: White is scheduled for the following day, on Sunday, the 5th of October.
