What to expect at Meiji Shrine Autumn Grand Festival 2024
Meiji Shrine Autumn Grand Festival is an annual festival held at Meiji Jingu Shrine in Shibuya, Japan which includes a number of different events across 3 days.
On the 1st of November a memorial festival is held to celebrate the enshrinement of Emperor Meiji.
The festival also coincides with Culture Day (a national holiday in Japan) on the 3rd of November which celebrates Emperor Meiji’s birthday.
Across the 3 days of the festival, various traditional performing arts such as Bugaku, Noh and Kyogen take place.
There will also be different music and dance acts performing, as well as a selection of traditional martial arts and sports, including Horseback Archery (Yabusame), Aikido and a Kobudo tournament.
