Hiroshima Warmed Sake Festival 2026

Last Updated on March 5, 2026

The upcoming Hiroshima Warmed Sake Festival is set to transform the grounds of Hiroshima Castle into a hub for enthusiasts of traditional Japanese spirits.

This annual celebration held on the vernal equinox focuses on the art of kanzake, a practice where local brews are heated to enhance their natural flavor profiles and complexity.

Attendees will have the opportunity to sample a wide array of regional sake varieties that have been specifically selected for their quality when served warm.

The event is hosted at the historic Hiroshima Castle, though officials have noted that the main keep is scheduled for closure due to necessary seismic reinforcements and ongoing discussions regarding a potential wooden reconstruction.

Advance tickets for the gathering are priced at ¥2,000 and include a set of six drinks, with purchasing details expected to be released on the official website shortly.

For those attending without pre-purchased tickets, individual servings of sake will be available for ¥400 per cup throughout the day.

A selection of local culinary offerings designed to pair specifically with the warm sake will also be available for purchase at various food stalls.

Travelers can reach the festival site by taking a ten minute walk from JR Shin-Hakushima Station or a twenty minute walk from the main Hiroshima Station.

The Hiroshima Sightseeing Bus offers an alternative transport method for guests, with both the orange and yellow routes providing direct access to the castle grounds.
