Fushimi Sake Festival 2026

Last Updated on March 5, 2026

Kyoto City is preparing to celebrate its rich brewing heritage with the upcoming Fushimi Sake Festival.

The region stands as the second largest producer of rice wine in Japan, with much of the output concentrated in the historic Fushimi Ward.

While many travelers flock to the area to visit the famous Fushimi Inari Taisha shrine, the local brewing industry remains an essential part of the cultural landscape.

There are currently twenty-one breweries operating within a small radius of only 1.5 kilometers, showcasing the high density of traditional production in this neighborhood.

The festival will be held at the Gekkeikan Sake Company, Limited SHOWAGURA, where attendees can experience the deep-rooted traditions of the local heartland.

Visitors can participate in paid tasting sessions for a fee of 1,800 yen, and tickets are available for purchase through online channels in advance.

In addition to the wide selection of beverages, the gathering will feature local food trucks and various entertainment options for guests to enjoy.

Reaching the venue is convenient for those using public transport, as it is situated just a fifteen minute walk from Fushimi-Momoyama Station on the Keihan Main Line.
