WEBTOON to release “Fullmetal Alchemist” manga in full color

WEBTOON Entertainment announced on Friday, 2nd May, that the beloved manga series Fullmetal Alchemist by Hiromu Arakawa will be available on its English-language platform starting Tuesday, May 7th.
In a treat for fans, the series will be presented in full color and reformatted specifically for WEBTOON’s signature vertical-scroll reading experience.

WEBTOON’s official description of the manga reads:
“Fullmetal Alchemist follows brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric, young genius alchemists who attempt to bring their dead mother back to life through the forbidden act of human transmutation. However, the price is too high — the transmutation fails, and Edward loses both his leg and his brother in the process. To save him, Edward sacrifices his arm to transmute his brother’s soul, attaching it to a suit of armor. In the aftermath, the brothers set out on a long journey to reclaim their bodies.”
Hiromu Arakawa’s Fullmetal Alchemist originally ran in Monthly Shonen Gangan from 2001 to 2010.
Viz Media previously released the series, along with related novels and art books, in North America.
The critically acclaimed manga has spawned numerous adaptations, including two television anime series (2003’s Fullmetal Alchemist and 2009’s Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, the latter being a more faithful adaptation of the manga’s storyline), two OVAs, two anime films, and a live-action movie.

Additionally, two live-action sequel films, Hagane no Renkinjutsushi: Kanketsu-hen – Fukushūsha Scar and Hagane no Renkinjutsushi: Kanketsu-hen – Saigo no Rensei, were released in 2022 to commemorate the franchise’s 20th anniversary.
Now, a new generation of readers and longtime fans alike will have the opportunity to experience Arakawa’s masterpiece in a vibrant, full-color format optimized for mobile reading on WEBTOON.
