Two new “Zoids x Evangelion” collaboration figures revealed

Takara Tomy has announced an exciting new cross-franchise collaboration, bringing together the iconic mechanical beasts of Zoids with the dystopian mecha action of Evangelion.
The “Zoids x Evangelion” collaboration will be produced as part of their “SYNERGENEX” brand which is dedicated to innovative combinations of major intellectual properties.
Two new Zoids will be created, using Evangelion Unit-01 and Unit-2 as inspiration.

The Zoids franchise, originating in 1983, features animal-like mecha models that can be assembled and often incorporate motorized movement.

These mechanical creatures, ranging from dinosaurs to insects, battle in a world where organic life and advanced technology intertwine.
On the other hand, “Neon Genesis Evangelion” is a ground-breaking anime series from the mid-1990s, is celebrated for its psychological depth, complex characters, and visceral depiction of giant biomechanical mecha (Evangelions) battling monstrous beings known as Angels.

Previous Takara Tomy “SYNERGENEX” collaborations have included “Transformers x Godzilla,” “Transformers x Macross,” and “Zoids x Monster Hunter”.
The upcoming “Zoids x Evangelion” figures utilize the Zoids Wild series’ XenoRex platform as their base.
The XenoRex, a Tyrannosaurus-type Zoid, is known for its aggressive design and powerful motorized actions in the Zoids Wild line.

This collaboration reimagines the XenoRex with design elements from the Evangelion universe, notably the distinct color palette and appearance of the Evangelion Units.
The two figures were previously shown in a prototype state at the 63rd Shizuoka Hobby Show back in May, 2025, but the latest images showing the color schemes of both figures offer the best look yet at what fans can expect.

The “General-purpose Beast-type Decisive Battle Weapon XenoRex Test Unit 1” will feature a dinosaur-like appearance reminiscent of Evangelion Unit-01.
Unit-01 is famously piloted by Shinji Ikari and is known for its prominent purple and green livery and aggressive “berserk” mode.

The “General-purpose Beast-type Decisive Weapon XenoRex Regular Practical Type Unit 2” will draw inspiration from Evangelion Unit-02, which features a vibrant red and orange color scheme and is piloted by Asuka Langley Soryu.

At this time, the release date and pricing details are yet to be revealed, but Takara Tomy has stated that they will begin accepting pre-orders for both action figures in July, so more information should be announced shortly.
