Take a dip in Japan's new Team Rocket themed Pokémon onsen

Gokuraku-yu, a popular chain of Japanese public bathhouses is set to host a series of Team Rocket themed events.

As part of a collaboration titled “Pokémon Sento! Team Rocket”, between Thursday, April 24th and Tuesday, May 20th, select Gokuraku-yu “Raku Spa” locations will be transformed into a haven for fans of the iconic Team Rocket, the mischievous antagonists from the Pokémon universe.

Team Rocket will be taking over the popular Gokurakuyu “Raku Spa” bathhouse chain

This special event will feature a variety of themed attractions, including eight “Pokémon Sento! Team Rocket Baths” inspired by different Pokémon associated with the notorious organization.

The bathhouse venues will be extensively decorated with eye-catching panels and banners featuring Team Rocket imagery, immersing visitors in their world.

In addition to the themed baths, Gokuraku-yu will offer a special “Admission fee + Pokémon Bathhouse! Team Rocket Plus Set” for ¥1,100 (approx. $7.70 USD / £5.82 GBP) which includes admission and one of nine muffler towels adorned with event-exclusive artwork.

Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase original merchandise showcasing the event’s visuals, including clear bags, and indulge in a special menu featuring food and beverages inspired by Team Rocket.

Adding to the interactive experience, a “Pokémon Card Game” trial session and a keyword rally will be held throughout the event period.

The centerpiece of the collaboration is the series of eight uniquely themed baths, each drawing inspiration from different facets of Team Rocket.

Team Rocket’s Houndoom Bath: Monday, May 12th to Wednesday, May 14th

Team Rocket’s Murkrow Bath: Thursday, May 15th to Saturday, May 17th

Team Rocket’s Nidoking Bath: Sunday, May 18th to Tuesday, May 20th

The bathing areas will be further enhanced by specially designed tapestries featuring Team Rocket artwork, creating a fully immersive environment for bathers.

Throughout the Gokuraku-yu locations hosting the event, panels, banners, and posters showcasing Pokémon cards with event-exclusive visuals will be displayed.

Upon entering the store, customers who purchase the Team Rocket Plus Set will receive the original muffler towel as a special bonus.

Merchandise

Gokuraku-yu will be offering two different clear bags for sale featuring designs inspired by the event.

Each bag will cost 2,650 yen (approx. $18.56 USD / £14.03 GBP).

For those looking for a bite to eat, the RAKU CAFÉ at Gokuraku-yu will offer original menu items based on a Team Rocket theme:

In addition to the themed baths and merchandise, Gokuraku-yu will host “Pokémon Card Game” trial sessions featuring the “Battle Academy” and “Start Deck Generations” products. Participants in these trial sessions will receive a free mini poster.

Social Media Gift

To further engage with fans online, Gokuraku-yu is encouraging visitors to follow their social media accounts dedicated to the event and post their experiences using a designated hashtag.

Participants who do so will receive an original postcard as a special social media engagement bonus.
