Sold out Gundam x Miku figure goes on display at Tokyo event

A new display at the “GUNDAM FIGURE EXHIBITION” may be your only opportunity to see a highly sought after figure, after pre-orders sold out in record time.

The special figure is a product of the “GUNDAM x MIKU” project which has been formed to celebrating the 45th anniversary since the premiere of the original “Mobile Suit Gundam” anime in 1979 by producing a number of collaborations with Hatsune Miku throughout the anniversary year.

The Gundam x Miku project has already seen several collab projects start in 2025

Other collaborations under the “GUNDAM x MIKU” banner have included a virtual Hatsune Miku concert as well as a collection of rubber mascot straps that have been released in capsule toy machines across Japan.

The figure fuses elements of Hatsune Miku with a popular mobile suit from ‘Gundam SEED’, the ‘Strike Freedom Gundam Type II’.

Unlucky fans who didn’t manage to secure a pre-order may only get to see the figure at this event

The new “METAL ROBOT Spirits <SIDE MS> Strike Freedom Gundam Type II [Hatsune Miku Ver.]” figure is currently a featured exhibit at the “GUNDAM FIGURE EXHIBITION”.

The Gundam Figure Exhibition is currently being held in Tokyo

The event, dedicated to showcasing a wide array of figures from the extensive “Gundam” universe, is being held at the TAMASHII NATIONS STORE TOKYO, the brands flagship store in Akihabara, Tokyo’s well known otaku district.

The “METAL ROBOT Spirits” line is known for its high-quality diecast and ABS construction, offering detailed and articulated figures for collectors.

The “Strike Freedom Gundam Type II [Hatsune Miku Ver.]” is a uniquely colored rendition of the Strike Freedom Gundam Type-II, a Gundam that featured in the recent anime film “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM”, which premiered in January 2024 as part of the “Gundam SEED” series’ 20th-anniversary celebrations.

The figure combines Hatsune Miku’s color scheme with the Strike Freedom Gundam Type-2

This special edition incorporates Hatsune Miku’s signature color palette into the design of the powerful mobile suit.

Selling out almost immediately when pre-orders opened earlier last month, the figures appearance at the Gundam Exhibition is possibly now the only way that anyone who didn’t secure the figure could see it.

Pre-orders began on March 10th through Premium Bandai, the official online shopping platform of the Bandai Namco Group, and it reportedly sold out within the space of several hours.

The acrylic stand features a new illustration of Hatsune Miku

Adding further interest for fans, the figure includes an original acrylic stand featuring a specially drawn illustration of Hatsune Miku combined with the Strike Freedom Gundam Type-II, created specifically for this collaboration.

This allows fans to display the figure alongside a dedicated piece of artwork that highlights the unique partnership.

Given the overwhelming initial demand, Premium Bandai is currently offering a second chance to get your hands on the “METAL ROBOT Spirits <SIDE MS> Strike Freedom Gundam Type-II [Hatsune Miku Ver.]”.

A lottery will be held, with successful winners being given the chance to order the figure which is priced at 24,200 yen ($164 USD / £127 GBP).

A second chance to pre-order the figure is available but will be limited to lottery winners

Entries for the lottery are being accepted until 11:00 PM JST on Saturday, April 13th.

The results of the lottery are expected to be announced in mid-April, and the figure is currently expected to shipment to successful purchasers in December 2025.

The immediate initial sell-out and subsequent lottery for the Hatsune Miku collaboration figure highlights the strong appeal of the Gundam and Hatsune Miku collaborations produced as part of the “GUNDAM x MIKU special project”.

“GUNDAM FIGURE EXHIBITION” at TAMASHII NATIONS STORE TOKYO, where the Hatsune Miku-colored Strike Freedom Type-II figure is currently on display, provides a showcase for a wide range of “Gundam” figures and merchandise.

The event is scheduled to run until September 8th, offering fans an opportunity to view this new figure as well as the other Gundam figure exhibits.
