Randy’s Donuts opens first store in Japan this May

Randy’s Donuts will open its first ever location in Japan this May, bringing their unique brand of American donuts to a trendy Tokyo neighborhood.

The highly anticipated grand opening of Randy’s Donuts Shibuya Daikanyama is scheduled to take place at the LOG ROAD DAIKANYAMA commercial complex, situated in the fashionable Daikanyama-cho area of Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, on Thursday, May 15th, 2025.

To commemorate the arrival of this famous donut brand in Japan, a selection of exclusive, Japan-only products will be made available for purchase on the very same day as the grand opening, offering a unique taste of Randy’s Donuts tailored for the Japanese market.

Randy’s Donuts is a tremendously popular donut shop that first originated in the vibrant city of Los Angeles back in the year 1952.

The original LA location features an iconic donut on the roof

The Los Angeles store is known for its iconic giant donut-shaped sign, which measures around 10 meters (equivalent to 32 feet) in diameter, which proudly adorns the rooftop of the donut chain’s original United States location.

This colossal confectionary landmark has long served as a recognizable symbol of the city, achieving widespread fame through its appearances in popular motion pictures, music videos, and on the social media platforms of numerous celebrities.

In addition to its visual prominence, the shop frequently engages in collaborations with other popular brands, solidifying its status as a must-visit destination for both tourists exploring Los Angeles and local residents alike.

The new Tokyo store will use elements of the iconic Randy’s Los Angeles store in its design, with a giant doughnut-shaped signboard measuring approximately 4m in diameter set to be installed in front of the store.

Inside the store, a large showcase measuring approximately 3m in height and 2.7m in width will display up to 1,000 doughnuts, and an eat-in space will also be available for customers to enjoy.

Randy’s Donuts Shibuya Daikanyama will be offering a range of exclusive, Japan-only items to specifically commemorate its initial arrival in the country.

These special offerings will include the “LA Blue Custard Cream Limited Dozen Box” and the impressively sized 16cm wide “Strawberry Chocolate Texas” donut.

In addition to these standard offerings, customers can also enjoy the charmingly round “Randy’s Rounds” and the generously sized “Texas” giant doughnuts.

Complementing its impressive donut selection, Randy’s Donuts will also be selling a variety of specialty coffees made using “Randy’s Roast,” a unique and proprietary roasting blend of premium coffee beans.
