Pikachu used “Run Away”! Surreal scenes as Pikachu flees from Turkish police
A wild Pikachu appeared in Antalya, Turkey, on March 27th as the city was gripped by protests.
In footage captured by eyewitness Ismail Koceroglu, the Pikachu appears to be fleeing from battle.
Rather than running from Team Rocket, who recently received their own cans of coffee in Japan, this Pikachu was being pursued by law enforcement personnel.
Commentary on Twitter suggested Pikachu had been affected by pepper spray, but it is currently unknown whether it was “super effective” or not.
While Pikachu’s are not normally capable of learning the “Run Away” move in the Pokémon games, Turkish newspaper Akdeniz Gerçek reported that the Pikachu “got away safely”.
They perhaps could have affected a swifter escape if they made use of the recently announced Koraidon motorcycle currently in development by Suzuki.
The presence of an individual dressed as Pikachu during a protest was a surreal and unexpected element which has received global attention on social media.
