ONE PIECE anime goes on hiatus – returns in 2025

October 2024 marks the 25th anniversary of the ONE PIECE TV anime and the series has most recently entered its “Egghead Arc”, with episode 1,122 having aired on the 13th October.

ONE PIECE fans will however have to wait for any new episodes in the current arc, as its been announced that the anime series will go on a temporary hiatus of 6 months.

The anime will begin airing again in April 2025, with more details coming at Jump Festa 2025 via its SUPER STAGE RED event, which will be held on December 22nd.

The ONE PIECE anime is being put on hold primarily to help improve the animation quality as the series heads toward its final arcs, with the animation team wanting to take time to ensure that the climax is animated to the best of their ability.

It’s also rumoured to be highly likely that the series may move to a later timeslot when it returns, which could mean less censorship, allowing the series fight scenes to be realised in more detail by the animation team.

With more details coming at December’s JUMP FESTA, we’ll bring you the latest updates as soon as they break!
