Number of visitors to Tokyo Skytree reaches 50 Million
Tokyo Skytree reached a milestone on the 21st of September, as the number of visitors to it’s observation decks crossed the 50 million mark.
To celebrate the occasion a number of commemorative events have been announced, which will run from the 5th to the 15th of October.
Firstly, all visitors to Tokyo Skytree during the event period will receive an original sticker commemorating the 50 millionth visitor. These will be distributed on the 4th floor of the Tokyo Skytree, close to the entrance gate for the observation decks.
Secondly, special lighting will be turned on to commemorate the achievement of 50 million visitors to Tokyo Skytree. The light show will take place on the following performance dates: 6th October through to 11th October as well as the 14th and 15th of October, with no light show taking place on the 12th or 13th of October.
5 different colours, intended to represent the “5” in “50 million” will be used in the light show, which will be lit up repeatedly in three-minute sets, running from 18:15 to 22:00 each performance day.
Thirdly, a special greeting event will be held featuring the three official Tokyo Skytree character mascots: Sorakara-chan, Skoburuburu, and Teppenpen.
The character greeting event will take place on the Tembo Deck (Floor 350), so only those purchasing tickets to the observation decks will have the opportunity to take part.
You can meet the mascots at 10:30/12:00/13:30/15:00 and 16:30 daily, for the full duration of the event from the 5th to 15th of October.
A special “50 million visitors” photo panel will also be available for visitors to take a commemorative photo. The photo panel will be available from the 5th of October until the 30th of November, however it will change locations during this time as follows:
October 5th to October 15th – Tokyo Skytree 4th Floor, close to the observation gallery entrance gates.
October 16th to November 30th – Tokyo Skytree 5th Floor, close to observation gallery exit gates.
Visitors to the Tokyo Skytree observation decks during the event period (5th to 15th October) will also be given a special commemorative ticket (whilst stocks last).
Finally, Tokyo Skytree will be selling commemorative items and cafe menu items. In addition, customers who spend 1,000 yen or more (including tax) in one transaction at either SKYTREE SHOP (Tembo Galleria Floor 345, SKYTREE SHOP 5th floor) will receive a free postcard.
Tokyo Skytree “50 Million Visitors” commemorative items include a medal style keychain (1,200 yen including tax, available at medal vending machines in both SKYTREE SHOP locations) and sake (2,200 yen, available in both SKYTREE SHOP locations) with a “50 Million Visitor” design.
The SKYTREE CAFE on the Tembo Deck (Floor 350) will also be serving gold leaf on its SKYSOFT ice cream from the 5th to 15th October to commemorate the event.
