A release date has now been set for the release of the latest version of the Hatsune Miku voice synthesis software.

This new version is a substantial upgrade to the Hatsune Miku NT software which was originally released in 2020 at a price of 19,800 yen (approx. $133.74 USD / £103.56 GBP).

Current registered users of Hatsune Miku NT will receive the Ver.2 update free of charge.

New purchases of Hatsune Miku NT (Ver.2) are expected to keep the original 19,800 yen pricing.

Crypton Future Media, who develop the software, will continue to offer a cross-grade purchase option for 15,400 yen (tax included) to users who own other “Hatsune Miku” products within the VOCALOID series.

Hatsune Miku NT was first launched on November 27, 2020, as a comprehensive vocal synthesis package, integrating a specialized singing voice expression technology, a voice library, a user interface, and voice effectors.

Hatsune Miku NT (Ver.2) represents a complete overhaul of the existing singing voice synthesis engine, built upon the concept of enhancing the “Hatsune Miku-ness” of the software.

This update incorporates a newly developed, in-house singing voice synthesis engine, internally coded as “M9”, and introduces new features designed to facilitate more expressive vocal performances.

A new feature of Hatsune Miku NT (Ver.2) is the “Automatic Control” function, a support mechanism that simplifies the creation of desired singing styles.

Automatic Control is substantial new addition to the available software tools for Hatsune Miku NT users

This function allows users to select from a range of pre-set options, such as singing styles and nuances, which automatically adjust various parameters, including pitch curves, vibrato, consonant length, and voice color.

This eliminates the need for users to manually adjust intricate settings.

Creators also retain the ability to fine-tune these parameters, offering a balance between automated assistance and manual control.

The “Automatic Control” feature in the official release of Hatsune Miku NT (Ver.2) has been significantly enhanced compared to the Early Access version released in October 2024.

These enhancements include increased intelligence and user-friendliness in the setting adjustments.

The update also introduces a dynamic pitch model and an expanded voice library with a wider range of VoiceColors, further expanding the expressive capabilities of the software.

Prior to the official release, users who have purchased and registered “Hatsune Miku NT” can access the Early Access version of Hatsune Miku NT (Ver.2) free of charge.

The Early Access version of Hatsune Miku NT (Ver.2) includes the following features:

  • “Original DB++” Hatsune Miku voice library, specifically tuned for the “M9” engine.
  • “Piapro Studio – Automatic Control” creator support tool, which provides:
    • Automatic pitch assignment.
    • Automatic vibrato.
