Lion King themed campervans to go on sale in Japan

BALEIA – Lion King Edition Campervan Exterior

Toy Factory, the number one manufacturer of campervans based on the Toyota Hiace in Japan, have announced that they will be releasing a limited edition Lion King themed campervan.

The “BALEIA – Lion King Edition” will be produced in an exclusive run of 30 vans, which will go on sale in January 2025.

With the second live action Lion King film, “Mufasa: The Lion King”, set to release this winter across the world, the timing of this collaboration couldn’t be better.

Described as a campervan that perfectly encapsulates the world of The Lion King, the interior of the van features a limited edition fabric made from high-quality Japanese fabric from Oshu, a region known for its textile production.

The van has a permanent rear bed, which can accommodate up to three adults.

The fabric has been designed to look like orange earth bathed in sunlight and again is made of special fabric made in Oshu.

Themed around the concept of a parent and child deepening their bond by travelling together, the campervan has a partition board featuring art of Simba and his father Mufasa quietly talking with their backs to each other.

All details have been carefully constructed to evoke imagery reminiscent of The Lion King, with the kitchen furniture partition designed to look like a view of the morning glow and horizon.

When the shade is opened, real sunlight pours in from the back, creating a visual spectacle.

Moving on to other interior fittings, a limited edition floor carpet is present in all vans, which has silhouettes and footprints of Simba, Timon, Pumbaa and Zazu.

The footprints are not printed but are expressed with uneven woven embroidery, creating a unique special feature.

The centre console tray between the driver’s and passenger’s seats features a design of grown-up Simba and Nala, which signifies the concept of spending time together as family members will do when sat in the front seats of the van.

Available in two colours, Metallic Beige and White Pearl, the campervan can be customised with optional exterior parts including roof racks and side ladders, as well as cross-country tires.

The interior is the same for both models, but there are subtle differences on the exterior.

The Metallic Beige version of the campervan features a large African style pattern on the side.

Whilst the White Pearl version features a pattern reminiscent of plants, creating a natural and gentle impression.

As a licensed product created in collaboration with Disney, the interior of the van features an official Lion King logo plate and tags on furniture also have both the Toy Factory and Lion King logo’s on them.

As if all of the design features weren’t enough to satisfy fans of The Lion King, each van will also come complete with 2 limited edition cushions, made from the same material as the furniture covering, as well as a aimited edition key chain featuring the illustration that Rafiki painted on the wall when Simba was born

Finally, a set of stickers based on the collaboration are also provided to brighten up the vans interior.

The “BALEIA – The Lion King Edition” campervan by Toy Factory will go on sale on the 31st of January, with only 30 units available to order.

Pricing information is yet to be confirmed, but previous collaborations between Toy Factory and Disney, such as the previously released “Dream Traveller Campervan” which came in both a Mickey & Pluto and Mickey & Donald color scheme, have seen campervans priced at around 17,480,000 yen (approx. $115522 USD/£90,616 GBP), so this can be expected to be in the same price range.

For details on how to order, you can contact Toy Factory directly via their official website.
