Japanese arcade giant sponsors official Hatsune Miku racing team

One of Japan’s most well known arcade operators is set to team up with the official Miku racing team.

The Japanese entertainment giant GiGO will become a sponsor of “GOODSMILE RACING & TeamUKYO” a racing team that competes in the GT300 class of SUPER GT, Japan’s premier automobile racing series.

This marks GENDA GiGO Entertainment’s first involvement in motorsport sponsorship.

GENDA GiGO Entertainment run a large number of entertainment businesses in Japan, ranging from bowling alleys and cafés to video game arcades.

GiGO arcades and entertainment complexes can be found across Japan

They are known for their takeover of SEGA’s Japanese arcades, which they bought out over a 2 year period between 2020 and 2022.

Following the final purchase of SEGA’s shares, all SEGA arcades were re-branded as GiGO.

As part of their new sponsorship deal, the GiGO brand logo will be prominently displayed on the “Good Smile Hatsune Miku AMG GT3” race car.

This vehicle is the centerpiece of the Hatsune Miku GT Project, an initiative centered around the concept of “a racing team that runs together with fans”.

A distinctive characteristic of the team is the annual “Hatsune Miku Racing Ver.,” affectionately known as “Racing Miku.”

This character is a stylized, motorsport-themed rendition of Hatsune Miku, a popular virtual singer software voicebank developed by Crypton Future Media.

Each year, a new design for Racing Miku is commissioned, and this design is prominently featured across all aspects of the team’s visual identity, including the livery of the race cars, the pit wall displays, and the attire of the team’s race queens (grid girls).

GENDA GiGO Entertainment’s sponsorship will extend beyond just logo placement on the car.

They plan to sell official GOODSMILE RACING & TeamUKYO merchandise and offer exclusive prizes at select locations within the GiGO Group’s network of entertainment arcades.

The GiGO logo will first appear on the “Good Smile Hatsune Miku AMG GT3” during the “SUPER GT Official Test” sessions scheduled to take place at Fuji Speedway on Saturday, March 29th and Sunday, March 30th 2025.

This test session precedes the “SUPER GT Round 1” race, which is set to be held at Okayama International Circuit in Okayama Prefecture on Saturday, April 12th, and Sunday, April 13th 2025, marking the official start of the 2025 SUPER GT season.
