Hatsune Miku credit card holders set to get exclusive merch for spending

Hatsune Miku fans will soon be able to earn merchandise by using their credit card.
MICARD, a credit card program operated by the Mitsukoshi and Isetan department store chains, offers two existing credit cards created in collaboration with the virtual pop star Hatsune Miku.
The Hatsune Miku MICARD features two exclusive designs, showcasing original artwork by the artists Oshioshio and Haru/No-Copyright Girl.

A new service has been announced which will allow cardholders to exchange MI Points, which are earned by spending on the card, for Hatsune Miku goods.

The new goods will be based on the artwork previously created by Oshioshio for use as one of the Hatsune Miku MICARD credit card designs.

Cardholders accumulate points at a rate of 1 point per 200 yen spent on both domestic and international purchases.
As well as the new exchange scheme, points can also be redeemed for airline miles, converted into points for other loyalty schemes such as WAON, Bic Camera and Starbucks, or be used to obtain discounts at Mitsukoshi Isetan Group stores.
New cardholders also receive a SONOCA music card which allows the cardholder to download music to their smartphone.

The primary cardholder receives a waiver for the first year’s annual fee.
From the second year onward, a fee of 550 yen (tax included) applies. Family cards are available at no cost for up to one additional cardholder.
The card is also compatible with Apple Pay, Google Pay and Japan’s ETC payment system used to pay expressway tolls.
The Hatsune Miku MICARD also includes convenient online and mobile services.

Cardholders can easily monitor their point balance, review transaction history, and manage their account through dedicated web services.
A smartphone application provides an additional layer of convenience for payment management.
The card also offers flexibility in payment options, allowing users to modify payment methods even after a purchase has been made.
Additionally, cardholders can enroll in an installment payment service, with the first month’s fee waived. This provides options for managing larger purchases over time.
The point exchange scheme is due to start from mid-March 2025.
MICARD are therefore expected to announce the goods that cardholders can exchange their points for shortly.

As an added bonus, any new cardholders that sign up before March 31st 2025 and are approved, will receive a bonus of 1000 points.
