New Choco Pie flavor is a Japanese-Italian fusion

Lotte are releasing a new flavor of their popular Choco Pie cakes!
The new Matcha Tiramisu flavor combines the traditional Italian dessert with Japanese green tea and is the first release in the company’s new “Take a Break with Choco Pie” range.
“Choco Pie Matcha Tiramisu” consists of a pair of matcha flavored cake separated by a cheese cream filling and covered in chocolate.

Lotte have previously released tiramisu flavored Choco Pies, but this new version is the first to incorporate matcha.
They will be sold in a box that features a relaxing park scene and prominently features both a Matcha Tiramisu flavor Choco Pie and an actual Matcha flavored Tiramisu.
The new Choco Pies will be available throughout Japan, with each box containing six individual Choco Pies.

The individual packaging of each “Choco Pie Matcha Tiramisu” features a variety of background designs and messages. These messages were handwritten by Lotte employees involved in the product’s development and will show a range of handwriting styles as they appear on the packaging exactly as they were written.

Lotte’s suggested retail price is an open price, so prices may vary between individual stores, but a box is expected to cost approximately 399 yen (approx. $2.68 USD / £2.07 GBP), including applicable taxes.
According to Lotte’s developers, consumer surveys indicated that many individuals consume Choco Pies as a reward or motivational tool during breaks from their daily routines.
The new “Take a Break with Choco Pie” series was developed in response to these surveys, with the aim of providing new flavors for consumers to enjoy on their breaks.
Lotte plan to expand the “Take a Break with Choco Pie” series with additional flavors in the future.
Lotte already has a history of releasing themed Choco Pie series alongside its classic product line.

These limited-time offerings have included the “Fairy Tale Series” which drew inspiration from classic literary works, and the “Global Travel Series” which featured flavors inspired by international desserts.
The “Global Travel Series” included tiramisu and New York cheesecake flavors.
These themed series are popular with Japanese consumers as they provide the opportunity to experience new seasonal and trend-driven flavors.
The new “Choco Pie Matcha Tiramisu” cakes will hit the shelves of Japanese supermarkets and convenience stores from Tuesday, March 18th.
