Krispy Kreme Japan releases Nagoya exclusive premium doughnuts

Krispy Kreme are bringing the taste of regional specialties to customers with the launch of two exclusive doughnuts in Nagoya.

Two limited-time offerings will only be available in Nagoya and are set to feature popular ingredients from the area.

The new “Krispy Kreme Premium” doughnuts will be created in-store, ensuring freshness and the best possible taste experience.

The Nagoya doughnuts have been inspired by the areas culinary history and offer customers a unique take on Nagoya’s food culture.

The new doughnuts have been named as the “Krispy Kreme Premium Nagoya Matcha An Butter” and the “Krispy Kreme Premium Nagoya Brûlée Glazed Strawberry & Cheese”.

Building upon the success of previous matcha-flavored doughnuts, this new creation incorporates the beloved “an butter culture” which is prevalent in Nagoya.

The doughnut takes inspiration from “An butter” toast, a local dish where butter is sat on top of anko bean paste that has been spread on toast.

It boasts a “double matcha” flavor, as it uses matcha (green tea powder) from two regions: Nishio City in Aichi Prefecture, a celebrated matcha-producing area, and Kyoto, known for its refined matcha.

This doughnut is generously filled with a smooth matcha cream made with Nishio matcha, prized for its sweetness.

Rich butter sits on top of matcha flavored bean paste, crafted with Kyoto matcha, which offers a bittersweet counterpoint to the sweet matcha cream.

The doughnut is finished with a coating of matcha and a dusting of powdered sugar.

This creation is an adaptation of Krispy Kreme’s popular “Brûlée Glazed” doughnut which features a crispy caramelized surface achieved through torching.

The “Brûlée Sandwich” takes this technique a step further, slicing the brûlée doughnut in two to form a sandwich.

This spring-inspired treat features a mix of sweet and tart flavors.

A juicy strawberry filling and a sour cheese cream are spread between the brûlée doughnut slices. Green pistachios are also added to give extra color and a nutty crunch.

Both doughnuts will be available from Saturday, March 1st, until early June, exclusively from Krispy Kreme’s JR Nagoya Takashimaya store.

Each doughnut will be priced at 368 yen ($2.44 USD / £1.94 GBP).

Krispy Kreme have also announced that they will be offering another doughnut that is exclusive to a specific Tokyo store – the “Krispy Kreme Premium Tokyo Fluffy Kreme Strawberry”.

The doughnut is stuffed with strawberry flavor whipped cream, with Krispy Kreme claiming it contains more whipped cream than any other doughnut in their history.

The surface is sprinkled with sweet and sour strawberry sugar, and topped with more strawberry whipped cream and strawberry sauce.
