Detective Conan collab sees popular burgers return to McDonald’s Japan

McDonald’s Japan has announced a new “Detective Conan” menu, which will include new variations of the popular Chicken Tatsuta burger.
The collaboration will feature a range of limited-time menu items, including variations of the popular Chicken Tatsuta burger alongside other themed side dishes, all packaged with exclusive “Detective Conan” designs.
This promotion coincides with the upcoming release of the latest “Detective Conan” theatrical film, “Detective Conan: Afterimage of the One-Eyed Flashback” which is set to premiere on April 18th, 2025.

“Detective Conan” is a long-running mystery manga and anime series by Gosho Aoyama and has captivated audiences since its serialization began in Weekly Shonen Sunday in 1994.
It has been released in English speaking regions under the name “Case Closed”.
The “Detective Conan” collaboration will introduce two burger variations: the classic “Chicken Tatsuta” and the new “Tartar Nanban Chicken Tatsuta”.

Additionally, as part of the “Night Mac” (Yoru Makku) menu, available after 5:00 PM, McDonald’s will offer “Rice Chicken Tatsuta” and the new “Rice Chicken Tatsuta Tartar Nanban”, which feature the burgers served on rice buns instead of bread.

All of the burgers will be served in limited-edition “Detective Conan” themed packaging.
Complementing these burgers are themed side dishes, including “Shaka Shaka Potato Potato Butter”, “McFizz Setouchi Lemon Yogurt Flavor”, and “McFloat Setouchi Lemon Yogurt Flavor”.
These limited-time offerings will be available from April 16th until the end of May 2025.
“Chicken Tatsuta”

The “Chicken Tatsuta” has been a McDonald’s Japan staple since 1991, features a ginger-soy sauce flavored Tatsuta patty, shredded cabbage, and a creamy, slightly spicy sauce, all served on a signature fluffy bun.
“Tartar Nanban Chicken Tatsuta”

The “Tartar Nanban Chicken Tatsuta” offers a Chicken Nanban-inspired flavor profile with a tartar sauce featuring eggs, onions, and pickles, and a sweet and sour Nanban sauce with hints of miso and bonito.
“Rice Chicken Tatsuta”

The “Rice Chicken Tatsuta” combines the standard Chicken Tatsuta patty with a soy sauce-flavored rice bun.
“Rice Chicken Tatsuta Tartar Nanban”

The “Rice Chicken Tatsuta Tartar Nanban” combines the Tartar Nanban Chicken Tatsuta with a soy-sauce flavored rice bun.
“Shaka Shaka Potato Potato Butter”

A limited-time flavor of McDonald’s popular “Shaka Shaka Potato” will allow customers to customize their French fries with a potato butter flavored powder.
This new version features an enhanced soy sauce flavor compared to its 2023 release.
It is available for an additional 40 yen ($0.27 USD / £0.21 GBP) with fries orders.
McFizz/McFloat Setouchi Lemon Yogurt Flavor

These drinks feature a refreshing blend of Setouchi lemon juice and yogurt flavor.

The “McFizz” is a carbonated beverage, while the “McFloat” is topped with soft-serve ice cream.
McDonald’s will also air two TV commercials, “Chicken Tatsuta ‘Detective Conan: A Delicious Golden Treat'” and “Gohan Tatsuta ‘Detective Conan: A Delicious Evening Treat'” starting from April 15th.
These commercials will feature original animation and “Detective Conan” characters, promoting the new menu items.
They will be available to view on the McDonald’s Japan website and YouTube after their first airing.
