Season 2 of Ranma 1/2 announced - watch the first trailer now

“Ranma 1/2” has recently finished airing the first season of its latest anime adaptation and fans will be eager to continue the story as soon as possible.

It seems that fans won’t have too wait too long, as immediately after the broadcast of episode 12 on Japan’s Nippon TV, a promotional video announcing Season 2’s production aired.

Based on the manga by Rumiko Takahashi, whose other works include “Urusei Yatsura,” “Maison Ikkoku” “Inuyasha” “Rinne” and “MAO”, “Ranma 1/2” was first serialized in 1987, with its final chapter coming in 1996.

“Ranma 1/2’s” first anime adaptation in 1989 was poorly received and was cancelled after just 18 episodes, before being reworked as “Ranma 1/2 Nettōhen” which aired from 1989 until 1992 across 143 episodes.

The latest series has been well received, particularly due to it airing on Netflix in many countries immediately after its Japanese broadcast.

Season 2’s promotional video comes at the height of the series popularity and combines footage from Season 1 with a brief glimpse of hidden weapons flying toward the screen as an unknown male character says “Get ready, Saotome Ranma.”.

No confirmed release date has been announced for the second season of Ranma 1/2, but we can expect it to air in late 2025/early 2026 at the earliest.
