New G Gundam 30th Anniversary military flight jacket goes on sale

The 30th anniversary celebrations for the Mobile Fighter G Gundam anime continue with a new military style flight jacket from ALPHA INDUSTRIES and Gundam apparel brand STRICT-G.

This continues on from the previous 30th anniversary collaboration which saw STRICT-G release a a traditional Japanese hanten jacket in collaboration with Miyata Orimono.

ALPHA INDUSTRIES is a military clothing manufacturer founded in 1959 that has become a leading clothing supplier to the U.S. military.

Its signature flight jacket, the MA-1, is considered to be a design classic. ALPHA INDUSTRIES have been producing these jackets for over 60 years and they received an official US military contract to produce them back in 1963.

The MA-1, which is the base of this product, incorporates details unique to ALPHA INDUSTRIES flight jackets, such as a placket inside the zipper for increased warmth and a pocket on the sleeve.

The material has a refined texture with a moderate shine and whilst it retains all the expected parts of a flight jacket, it is easy to match with a variety of outfits as the silhouette is clean and fashionable.

This new jacket is based on a previously released Domon Kasshu “Mobile Fighter G Gundam” flight jacket released in 2022.

As a 30th anniversary product, the new jacket features a number of changes to the earlier version, including high-quality sheep leather to provide a softer texture.

Various patches on the jacket have also been changed to a monotone design to match the color of the jacket.

The dog tag with the 30th anniversary logo of “Mobile Fighter G Gundam” and the ALPHA INDUSTRIES brand name attached with the ribbon is a new addition.

All customers who purchase the new jacket will receive an acrylic stand featuring an original illustration of Domon wearing the G Gundam MA-1.

The 30th anniversary G Gundam MA-1 jacket can be purchased online via the Premium Bandai Japan web store.

A Japanese VPN connection may be required to access the pre-order page from overseas and it’s recommended to also use private/incognito mode on your browser if a VPN alone does not grant access.

Alternatively, the jacket be ordered in person at 4 STRICT-G stores in Japan:

STRICT-G Tokyo Odaiba – Located in the DiverCity Tokyo Plaza mall.
STRICT-G Tokyo Solamachi – Located in the Tokyo Skytree Town Solamachi mall.
STRICT-G NEOPASA Shizuoka – Located in the Shizuoka Service Area on the outbound Shin-Tomei Expressway.
STRICT-G Taga – Located in the Taga Service Area on the outbound Meishin Expressway.

Priced at 132,000 yen (approx. $836.77 USD/£665.15 GBP), online pre-orders for the jacket started on 25th December 2024 and will continue until 5th January 2025 or until all stock has been pre-ordered.

As with most Gundam collaboration goods, stock will be limited for both online and in-store sales, so it’s recommended to place your order or head to one of the participating stores as early as you can!
