Adorable new ‘Catbus Clock’ brings Ghibli magic to your home
Studio Ghibli fans can now keep the time with one of My Neighbour Totoro’s most beloved characters, thanks to a new themed clock.
Donguri Kyowakoku, the official retailer of Studio Ghibli merchandise in Japan, is offering a charming pendulum clock inspired by the iconic Catbus from the beloved animated film “My Neighbor Totoro.”
“My Neighbor Totoro,” released in 1988, remains a timeless classic, enchanting audiences with its heartwarming story of two sisters, Satsuki and Mei, and their magical encounters with forest spirits.
The Catbus, a giant, grinning, multi-legged feline vehicle, is one of the film’s most memorable creatures, ferrying the sisters through the countryside on their fantastical adventures.
This delightful clock, created in collaboration with Studio Ghibli’s ‘GBL’ merchandise brand, perfectly captures the Catbus’s playful spirit in a retro style design.
The clock’s eyes move back and forth, and its tail swings like a pendulum, bringing the character to life.
Adding an extra touch of charm, the clock face features three small illustrations of Totoro that include the logo of ‘GBL’.
In a final cute touch, the Catbus’s destination display reads “jikan/じかん”, which translates to “time”.
The clock’s colorful and nostalgic aesthetic is sure to add a unique and heartwarming touch to any room.
Measuring approximately W130 x H260 x D75mm, the Catbus clock makes a statement without being overly large and imposing.
It requires two AA batteries (sold separately) to operate and the clock is crafted from durable ABS and PVC materials, weighing around 250g which makes it light enough to hang on all wall surface types.
Priced at 12,100 yen (including tax, approx. $84.05 USD/£63.26 GBP), the Catbus pendulum clock is available at Donguri Kyowakoku and GBL stores across Japan and online.
