About Ashikaga Flower Park
Ashikaga Flower Park, located in Tochigi, is one of the most famous flower viewing parks in Japan.
The garden was opened in 1968 as "Hayakawa Farm" in Horikomi-cho (now Asakura-cho), Ashikaga City.
Due to urban development the park was relocated to its current location and renamed "Ashikaga Flower Park" in 1997.
It is famed for its impressive wisteria and award winning illuminations.
The park has 4 different eateries serving seasonal dishes. There is also a flower shop and a souvenir shop.

When is the best time to visit Ashikaga Flower Park?
The park is perfect for flower viewing year round, with roughly eight floral seasons, making the most of several varieties of plants and flowers at each stage:
Early January to late February – the park is beginning to bloom with Winter Plum, Winter-flowering Peonies and Wintersweet.
Early March to mid April – spring blooms take over with more than 30,000 Tulips and Cherry Blossom.
Mid April to mid May – the park is vibrant with pink and purple hues as the Wisteria and Azalea bloom.
Mid May to early June – warmer weather brings Roses, Rhododendron and Clematis in rainbow colours.
Early June to early July – the start of summer is famed for Hydrangeas and colourful Irises.
Early July to late September – this season is all about the Tropical Water Lily.
Early October to late November – as the weather begins to cool the park is a sea of purple Amethyst Sage.
Late October to late January – the end of the year the park is transformed into a “Garden of Light Flowers” with its seasonal illuminations.
