When is Nijō-jō Castle open?

Nijō-jō Castle is open from 08:45 – 17:00 daily (last entry is 16:00). The castle is closed December 29-31.

Ninomaru-goten Palace is open from 08:45 – 16:10 daily.

Ninomaru-goten Palace is closed to visitors every Tuesday in January, July, August, and December, December 26-28 and January 1-3 each year.  If any of the closure days are a public holiday, the Ninomaru-goten Palace will be open for viewing, but it will be closed the following day.

Honmaru-goten Palace is open 09:30 – 16:00 daily (tickets must be purchased in advance).

Honmaru-goten Palace is closed to visitors on the third Monday and Tuesday of each month, December 26-28 and January 1-3. If any of the closure days are a public holiday, the Honmaru-goten Palace will be open for viewing.

How do I get to Nijō-jō Castle?

Nearest Station: Nijō Castle is located closest to Nijōjō-mae Station, which can be reached using the Tōzai Line (T14)

You can also use the Nijō Station, which can be accessed by the Tōzai Line (T15), and the Sagano Line (E4)

Nijō Castle is also accessible from Marutamachi Station, taking the Karasuma Line (K7).
