The culture of appreciating goldfish began in Japan in the Edo period, from 1603 to 1867.

Approximately 70 species of goldfish swim in the Art Aquarium Museum, 30 of which have been selected as nationally recognized breeds.

The Art Aquarium is a modern art space that combines light, sound, and fragrance with traditional Japanese culture and artifacts to recall the appreciation of goldfish.
