Event Overview

The Yotsugi Jizo Grand Festival is an annual event held at at Jotoku-ji Temple, which is known as a place to pray for conception and safe childbirth.

The statue of Jizo Bosatsu itself, which is not typically open to the public, can be viewed only on this day.

It is said that on the festival day, the prayers of worshippers are amplified one hundred-million times. As such, many people who wish to pray to the shrine for assistance with childbirth attend on this day.

A prayer service is held in the main hall from 10:00am and talismans will be on sale to take home to carry the good luck gained from praying at the temple.

Fire ritual in front of the main hall

Ascetic monks will also perform a holy fire ritual in front of the main hall at 14:00 and Kasujiru, a soup made with sake lees, is served to visitors throughout the day.
