What to expect at Tokyo Skytree New Years Event

Experience the New Year in the unique location of Tokyo Skytree, where the observation deck will be decorated in collaboration with Shunkaen Bonsai Museum and will feature decorations that incorporate bonsai.

If you’re lucky enough to visit when the skies are clear you could see fantastic views of Mt. Fuji and take your own commemorative new year photos at the decks photo spots.

From the 1st to 3rd January 2025 the first 2,025 customers to enter the observation deck each day will receive a votive plaque strap featuring Tokyo Skytree’s original characters Sorakara-chan, Skoburuburu and Teppenpen.

On the 1st January a lion dance will welcome the new year with dancers performing to traditional Japanese music and praying for good health.

To give visitors the chance to experience the joy of Sumo there will be Sumo wrestlers from the Kise stable in Sumida ward taking part in demonstrations on the 1st to the 3rd of January, giving visitors the chance to test their strength and take photos together.

To ring in the New Year, Tokyo Skytree will be lit with special lighting inspired by the Japanese flag and a special ‘Happy New Year’ message will be displayed on the tower – you’ll also have the chance to meet Sorakara-chan dressed in her finest attire if you visit the observation decks during the 1st of January to 7th January 2025.

When will Tokyo Skytree New Years Event take place?

Tokyo Skytree New Years Event will take place from the 26th December 2024 until the 6th January 2025.

Lighting times:

  • 1st January – 24:00 to 06:00
  • 1st January to 3rd January – 17:45 – 24:00

Observation deck opening hours from the 1st to 3rd January 2025 will be 08:00 to 22:00.

*Observation deck opening hours usually range from 09:00 to 10:00 and close at 22:00.

How much does Tokyo Skytree New Years Event cost?

Ticket prices for Tokyo Skytree start at 1,200 yen for adults, 800 yen for students and 450 yen for children.

How do I get to Tokyo Skytree New Years Event?

Nearest Station: Tokyo Skytree New Years Event is best accessed from Tokyo Skytree Station using the Tobu Skytree Line.

You can also access the event from Oshiage Station using the Hanzomon Line, the Asakusa Line, the Keisei Oshiage Line or the Tobu Skytree Line.

Alternatively, Tokyo Skytree can be accessed from Honjo-azumabashi Station using the Asakusa Line.
