What to expect at Nishi-ku Candle Art
This event celebrating Yokohama’s Nishi Ward has been held since 2008, with the event seeing around 1,200 candles lighting up Grand Mall Park Art Square.
The event will include a motif candle display and message candles that illuminate pictures drawn with love by the elementary school students of Nishi Ward.
“Hikonyan” the mascot from Hikone City, which has had long-standing ties with Nishi Ward, will also be taking part in the event and holding a commemorative photo session with Nishi Ward’s mascot “Nishimaro-chan”.
2024 marks the 80th anniversary of Nishi Ward’s establishment and as a finale the venue will be livened up with a spectacular performance by the “Yokohama City Fire Department Band” and the women’s choir “Ferris Frauenkohr“.
